Profile

Esi Boatemaa Quansah is an experienced agricultural development professional and administrator with over a decade of hands-on experience in Ghana’s public agricultural sector. She currently serves as a Senior Agricultural Officer with the Ashanti Regional Department of Agriculture, a role she has held since December 2012, contributing directly to regional and district-level agricultural planning, coordination, and policy implementation.

Her professional work focuses on crop production planning, agricultural data management, and the execution of major government interventions, most notably the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) programme. In this capacity, she works closely with District Agriculture Offices to collate, analyze, and validate crop production data, ensuring accuracy and consistency across the region. She plays a key role in the preparation of technical and analytical reports and contributes to the formulation of District Agricultural Development Plans, supporting evidence-based decision-making within the agricultural sector.

Esi also provides technical backstopping and advisory support to district agricultural officers, strengthening service delivery and enhancing the effectiveness of extension activities. Her work demands strong coordination skills, attention to detail, and a practical understanding of agricultural systems at both community and institutional levels.

Academically, Esi Boatemaa Quansah possesses a strong scientific foundation in land and soil management. She holds an MPhil in Soil Science from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and a BSc in Earth Science from the University for Development Studies (UDS), Navrongo. Her academic background equips her with deep knowledge in soil fertility management, sustainable land use, and environmentally responsible agricultural practices—competencies that directly inform her professional work.

She has further strengthened her expertise through international exposure, including participation in a Knowledge Co-Creation Program at Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Science, Japan, where she focused on farmer-led extension approaches and curriculum development. This experience broadened her perspective on participatory agricultural extension and innovation-driven agribusiness development.

In addition, Esi has undertaken professional training in Corporate Social Responsibility and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a joint programme organized by the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, Himachal Pradesh University, and the Global Forum for Sustainable Rural Development. This training reflects her commitment to aligning agricultural development with sustainability, social responsibility, and global development frameworks .

Alongside her public sector role, Esi serves as an Administrator at TrainUp Consult, where she also teaches Agribusiness Development. In this role, she combines practical field experience with academic insight to support capacity-building for entrepreneurs, agribusiness professionals, and emerging farmers. Her teaching emphasizes value-chain thinking, sustainable production systems, and the practical realities of agribusiness in the Ghanaian context.

Beyond her technical and professional responsibilities, Esi has demonstrated consistent leadership and service. She has previously served as General Secretary of the Ghana Methodist Students Union (GHAMSU) at UDS and has held various leadership positions within the Methodist Church, Ahodwo. These roles highlight her organizational competence, integrity, and ability to work effectively with diverse groups.

Esi Boatemaa Quansah is widely regarded for her strong work ethic, teamwork, and commitment to quality service and safety standards. She is highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, possesses strong report-writing and communication skills, and is fluent in English and Twi, enabling effective engagement with stakeholders at community, district, and regional levels.
